Finish Friday: Bliss Quilt

Amandajean of "Crazy Mom Quilts" is hosting a "Finish it Up Friday" link party starting today, and it's perfect timing to share my Bliss Quilt that I finished binding this week.  After the wash, you can hardly tell that it has 2 different styles of quilting in it.  Previously, I have not been a huge fan of the "crinkly quilt", but this quilt changed my mind LOL!

I started this a year ago in the "That Girl That Quilt-a-long" as a Christmas present for my (now) 4 year old niece.  I finished up a quilt for her sister from the same quilt a long, as well as 2 other (4 girls in the family!).  But as I've mentioned over the last year, this quilt has caused me much much frustration as I tried to quilt it.  Now, I fell like this quilt has so much "bad karma" that I don't want to give it to such a special person.  So for now I'll keep it.

What about you?  Do you feel the same about quilts?  That part of your energy goes into it?  Would you still give it to a friend or family member?  Or would you start from scratch and make a new one instead?

Regardless, I'm very glad that it's DONE.  It's really a very pretty quilt, just not my style at all, and in our testosterone-loaded household, it kind of sticks out, but I learned a great deal from it!

I've never been a fan of the "crinkly quilts" either, but like you, I changed my mind when one of my turned out beautifully after the wash. :)

I do feel that way sometimes - I've never had a "bad karma" quilt, but sometimes, I make one with someone in mind, and when it's done (usually, it's the quilting that changes the nature of it); I realize it's not a good fit for that person and I save it for someone else.

I think your quilt looks great, don't see/feel any bad karma at all...

The quilt looks great and just goes to show us that we don't always know what we like!!! Crinkly or pristine... pink or blue.... flowers vs stripes.... you just never know until it's done. Keep the quilt on a shelf... for a few months... the new right owner will come along when you least expect it!

I love it! I think you should give it to her, even if it was a stinker to work on. :) It is beautiful!

Take it outside and give it a good shake. Let it air out. The recipient may have a totally different opinion of it.

I think it looks great! I do know the feeling though, of learning to hate a quilt in the process of making it. lol Still, I doubt that your niece would feel any bad karma, and would love it. I know I would!

i think you SHOULD give it to her. it's beautiful and it will be well loved. just try to put a positive spin on it. you perservered to the end to finish it, that's how much you love your little niece! (easy for me to say, i don't have the frustration of it in my head. but i've been there on certain levels in my own personal experience and time eases the pain, LOL!!!)

thanks so much for linking up to finish it up Friday.
